Participant with sleep disorders
1. Volunteers wanted for a study on emotional learning, stress and nightmares
To participate in this study, you must be a man or a woman aged between 18 and 50 years old, have at least 2 nightmares or bad dreams per week for the last 6 months or have less than 1 nightmare or bad dream per month for the last 5 years. The study includes 2 different parts: a part you complete at home by filling out a short sleep and dream log by phone for 14 days and by collecting saliva samples for a maximum of 4 days; and a laboratory part which include 3 visits at the Center for Advanced Research in Sleep Medicine of the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal to fill-out questionnaires and pick-up the study information and materials, do an emotional cognitive task with brain imaging on 2 occasions. You must also be available for a one-hour visit at the Institut de Gériatrie of the Université de Montréal to undergo a magnetic imaging scan. Financial compensation of $260 for participation as well as reimbursement for public transit costs or parking as well as meal coupons for breakfast will be provided.
2. Volunteers wanted for a clinical study on REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD)
To participate in this study, you must be a man or a woman aged 50 and older. Have you ever been told or suspected yourself that you seem to ''act out your dream'' while asleep (for example: punching, flailing your arms in the air, making running movements ...). If yes! Are you interested in spending a night at the sleep laboratory and having daytime evaluations at Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal? Compensation will be offered for the tests you accept to do, and a free parking pass. To be eligible, you must not have a serious neurological disease (such as epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis ...) or sleep apnea syndrome.
